July 6, 2022 Public Meeting Followup
The First Public Business meeting of AltoCEP was held at Alto Lakes Golf and Country Club on Wednesday July 6. Chairman Mark Severance called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM. Mark’s prepared remarks are contained in these PowerPoint slides.
Of special interest is page 8 which contains both good and bad news because it shows the level of commitment by our community to keep the proposed concrete batch plant out of our neighborhood. It also quantifies the financial result (for both sides) of the unnecessary prolonging of the Disapproval process. As wisely noted by our Counsel, “This will be the most expensive concrete batch plant in America that was never built.”
Given the hand we are being dealt, our Community must continue to respond and fuel the fight, with some suggested approaches on page 10.
Also of interest were comments from Dr. Mike Miller, a cancer surgeon at Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center in Gilbert, Arizona and part-time resident of Alto Lakes, who addressed the notion of “ I Can’t See It, So It Doesn’t Affect Me“, which we still hear from time-to-time. His comments were based on this written testimony presented at the NMED Public Hearing in February.
Thanks for your continuing support. We will reconvene later in the summer to update you on our progress
